Summer is a time to look and feel light and breezy, to be carefree and relaxed and to not be buried under piles and piles of thick, heavy make up. Summer is the time of year you can get away with rubbing a bit of lip gloss or Vaseline on your lashes and hitting the beach to get a great golden tan!

If you do happen to have some time to prep yourself before hitting the beach or going out to side walk shop in the sun, here are some quick and easy summer beauty tips that will have you glowing.

Get Bronzed!

A bronzer is great at any time of year, but the summertime is definitely when a bronzer is required. Bronzers are easy to apply and, in a dash, will have you looking young and radiant all day long.

Grab your blush brush and sweep bronzer over your cheekbones, your chin, your nose and your temples. You may also want to apply it to each side of your nose (this will help reduce the appearance of the size of your nose) and under the lower lip for an extra glossy look.

Get Beach Hair

Put that blow dryer and straightener away and let your hair go free! After you step out of the shower, apply a bit of mouse or “de-frizz” serum to your hair and let it air dry. You’ll be amazed just how wonderful your natural waves will look.

You can also make a “messy bun” if you don’t have time to wait for your hair to dry. Apply a hair serum to your towel dried hair and rake it back with your fingers. Twist your hair into a knot and secure the knot in place with several bobby pins. Remember, it’s called the “messy bun” for a reason – it doesn’t have to be super neat and tidy!

Don’t Leave your Sunscreen at Home

Summer is the time of year when sunscreen is an absolute must. Not only should you have SPF30 or higher on your face, but you should have it all over your entire body. Sure, that tan you may get from lying on the beach with coconut oil rubbed on your body will look good now, but 10 to 20 years down the road you will have wished you stuck with the sunscreen.

Go Pink with Lipstick

Pink lipstick is always in, but it’s especially hip to wear in the summer time. Take your time and sample different shades to find the one that compliments your natural skin tone. Lighter pink colors seem to work best on those who have a more pinky or “cool” complexion, whereas warmer pinks look good on skin with a more yellow undertone.

Choose Lighter Nail Polish

Light nail polish not only looks more carefree, but it truly is more carefree! Darker nail polish is high maintenance and requires to be redone or fixed on an almost daily basis. During the summer months, we tend to be more active and busy, which means our nail polish will chip only all the more. By choosing lighter, more pearlescent colors, a chip or two here and there won’t be a glaring imperfection as it would be if you were wearing a dark red polish.
